The Sergeon

The Sergeon made his racing debut just over a week ago and finished fifth in a two-year-old race. There is not much to report yet — one outing is not enough to judge a horse — but Oliver Cole's yard at Whatcombe has been in decent form this season with eight winners already, so the horse is in capable hands. At two years old, The Sergeon has time to develop, and a first run is often a learning experience rather than a true test. Whether he will improve significantly or prove to be one of those horses that never quite fulfills early promise remains to be seen.
