That matters because it gives the yard a clear tactical blueprint. When it races on fast, dry ground or on wet, muddy going, The Secret Pearl is a different proposition altogether. Most of The Secret Pearl's racing happens at Class 4 level, where the fields are competitive but not elite, and it has the one win from ten attempts at that standard.

Harry Bannister, who rides The Secret Pearl most often, has won one race from eight outings in the saddle. That is a slight uptick on the horse's overall record, which hints that the combination works reasonably well when everything aligns. With a recent victory still fresh and Edgcote sending out consistent winners, The Secret Pearl has shown enough this week to suggest it will get plenty more chances at the track.
