The Enabler

Trained by Gordon Elliott at his yard in Longwood, Co Meath, The Enabler is operating inside one of the most powerful training operations in Ireland. Elliott's team has sent out 209 winners already this season — a number that puts the scale of the operation into sharp relief. Getting noticed in a string that size, and holding your place in it, means you have to deliver. The Enabler has done that.

The horse got off the mark at Punchestown in November 2023 — one of Ireland's most celebrated tracks — and built on that with a win at Fairyhouse as recently as December 2025, just four months ago. That Fairyhouse success is particularly telling. It shows this isn't a horse fading into the background as it gets older; it's still picking up wins at seven, still competing and still finding its way to the front.

The recent run of form makes for interesting reading: sixth, third, fourth, first, third, sixth — reading from most recent back to that December win. The two sixths either side of an otherwise solid sequence suggest The Enabler can be a little unpredictable, but the third placings in between show it rarely runs a bad race completely. Sam Ewing, who rides it most often, has partnered the horse in 5 of its races and come away with 1 win together — roughly 1 in every 5 rides, which is a decent return and suggests the partnership is one worth watching when the two are paired up again.

Currently active and last seen on the track just 17 days ago, The Enabler is clearly in a busy spell of the season. With a trainer in the kind of form Elliott is in and a horse that has demonstrated it can still win at this stage of its career, there's every reason to think another result isn't far away.
