The Ducks Walk

The recent form makes for uncomfortable reading. Two seventh-place finishes sandwiched around two gaps in the record suggest a horse that has been in and out of action without ever threatening the front of the field. Finishing seventh tells you the horse is completing its races, but it is not troubling the judge at the end of them. Having raced just one day ago, the team clearly still believes there is something worth chasing — and that persistence is perhaps the most interesting thing about The Ducks Walk right now.

Whether a change of conditions, a different track, or simply a fortunate day can unlock something better remains to be seen. For now, this is a horse looking for its first breakthrough at an age when most of its rivals have long since found their level.
