Texas Red

Over the past six races, Texas Red has shown some consistency in the mid-field. The results read 3-4-8-5-5-4, which means it has stayed off the track's bottom tier but has not strung together anything close to a winning sequence. There is nothing in that form line to suggest an imminent breakthrough; the horse appears to be running within its limits at the level it is facing, without the spark needed to convert a place into a win.

P J Rothwell's yard at Tinahely, in County Wicklow, has been plenty productive this season with 35 winners already sent out, so Texas Red is training in a facility that clearly knows how to prepare horses to win races. Whether the six-year-old will add to that tally remains to be seen, but at this stage of its career without a win to its name, it looks to be a horse at the limit of its ability rather than one waiting to break through.
