Terrorise

Ellison knows the horse well. Back in spring 2024, he described Terrorise as a horse who had done well physically from his two-year-old season to his three-year-old year, but had then lost his way a little because he was simply too underdeveloped to handle the demands being put on him. That kind of honesty from a trainer is often a good sign — it means they understand what they have, and they are patient enough to let the horse find its feet. Ellison's yard has sent out 47 winners this season, so this is not a small operation firing in the dark.

What Terrorise has found, in particular, is that he loves a proper test. His two best performances on record come over long distances — two miles or more — where he has won 2 from 7 races, a win rate of 29%, or almost 1 in every 3 starts. That is a meaningful uptick from his overall numbers and suggests he genuinely relishes being asked to stay. He also has a clear preference for slightly wet ground, winning 2 of his 6 races in those conditions — again, roughly 1 in 3. Put the two together, a long race on a soft day, and you have the version of Terrorise that causes problems.

His most recent win came at York in July 2025, a track with a reputation for attracting decent horses and honest racing. He has raced just once in the last day, so he is very much in active campaign right now. Ben Robinson has ridden him in 10 of his races and taken 2 of those wins — a win rate of 20%, or 1 in 5 — and that partnership looks like a settled one worth noting. The recent form figures of 13-16-6-10 suggest he has not been near the front lately, but Terrorise is the kind of horse whose best days tend to come when the conditions line up just right.
