The recent form makes for interesting reading. Two runs back it finished second, and it managed another second a little further back in the sequence, but either side of those efforts the results have been modest — finishing fourth, eighth, and twice as far back as twenty-second. That kind of inconsistency is the puzzle to solve. The horse clearly has days when it turns up ready to compete, and days when it simply does not fire. Until those better days start happening more regularly, it will remain a horse with potential rather than a horse with a record.
Terre De Vega is trained by John Andrew Kinsella, who operates out of Rathdrum in County Wicklow. It is a small yard that has sent out five winners this season — a tidy return that suggests Kinsella knows how to place a horse and get a performance out of it when the time is right. The question is whether he can find the right opportunity to finally get Terre De Vega into the winner's enclosure. Given that the horse raced just one day ago and is clearly in active campaign mode, that opportunity may not be far away.
