He's trained by Dan Skelton at Alcester in Warwickshire, and that context matters. Skelton's yard has sent out 198 winners already this season — this is a professional operation running at serious volume. When Skelton took Tellherthename on just after Christmas 2025, he was candid that the horse had a chequered career behind him and that the team had been "turning stones" to figure out what had gone wrong. That kind of honesty from a trainer is usually a sign they believe they've found the answer.

Recent form suggests they have. After a rough patch — he finished 8th and 12th in two races that clearly didn't suit him — Tellherthename has reeled off three consecutive top-two finishes: 3rd, then 1st, then 1st again. His most recent win came at Uttoxeter just three weeks ago, on 13 June 2026, and he raced again only yesterday. That's a busy schedule, which tells you the team like where he is right now and want to keep the momentum going.

The one cloud on the horizon is his record at the very top level. He has run four times in Class 1 races — the biggest events in the country — and hasn't won any of them. That's 0 from 4. So while this is clearly a talented horse who dominates at his level, the question of whether he can step up and beat the very best remains unanswered. His regular partner Kielan Woods, who has ridden him in 10 of his 14 races and won 2 of them (roughly 1 in every 5 together), will know the horse better than most. Right now, Tellherthename looks like a horse in the form of his life — the big tests will tell us how far that life can take him.
