That said, Tekitoff is still only three years old and last raced just 20 days ago, so this is very much a story still being written. At this stage of a young horse's career, trainers are still learning what their horse needs — the right distance, the right conditions, the right race. Not every three-year-old finds its feet quickly.

The trainer, Mark Walford, operates out of Sheriff Hutton in North Yorkshire and has sent out 35 winners already this season, which is a solid return for a yard of that size. Walford clearly knows how to get horses to the track in form, which at least suggests Tekitoff is in capable hands while the team figures out where it belongs.
