What stands out most is how well Team Player performs over longer trips. At distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, this horse has won three of eight races — nearly 38%, or close to two in every five. That is a meaningful number. It suggests Team Player is a stayer, a horse that gets stronger the further it goes, and that the yard who try to squeeze it into shorter races are probably leaving wins on the table. Normal ground suits it too: two wins from five races on standard conditions, a 40% win rate that any trainer would be happy with.

Ewan Whillans trains out of Hawick in the Scottish Borders, and his yard has been in excellent form this season with 28 winners already on the board. That is the kind of background that tells you a horse is being prepared carefully and placed with purpose. Team Player's first career win came at Chester in July 2025, and its most recent victory was at Musselburgh in April 2026 — three months ago now, which explains why the recent form figures of 9-5-1-1 tell a story of a horse that was flying earlier in the season and has since come back to the field a little.

The one caveat is that Team Player has largely competed at Class 4 level — a solid but unspectacular tier — and has won just one of seven races there, a 14% win rate, or roughly one in seven. That is noticeably lower than the overall record suggests and hints that at this specific level, the horse is not always the dominant force its broader stats might imply. Still, with two wins from the last six races and a race just yesterday, Team Player is clearly fit, active, and in the hands of a trainer who knows how to keep a horse ticking over. One to watch when the trip is long and the ground is right.
