His recent form makes for tough reading: finishing 13th, 7th, 11th, and 9th in his last four completed races suggests he has been struggling to land a blow at whatever level he has been competing. The dash in his recent record indicates a race where he either fell, was pulled up, or did not finish — none of which adds much confidence to the story. He raced just yesterday, so he is clearly being kept busy, and trainer Brian McMahon is obviously keen to find the right opportunity.
McMahon operates out of Scarriff in County Galway, a yard that has sent out four winners already this season — proof that the trainer knows how to get a horse ready to win. The question is whether Tantrum Boy can be the next one to deliver. At six years old, he is no youngster, and with no wins from five attempts, he will need to find some improvement if he is going to trouble the judge. But horses can surprise you, and with an active campaign underway, the team clearly has not given up on him.
