At Windsor, it doubles that. Trainer Heather Main, who runs the Kingston Lisle yard in Oxfordshire, clearly knows what she is doing with this horse — the team has sent out 17 winners this season alone — and Tanmawwy's first career win came at Windsor back in May 2022, with a top-level Class 2 win there following in July 2023. That Class 2 win is worth highlighting: these are among the most competitive races in Britain, and landing one is not something ordinary horses do.

Ground matters too. On normal conditions Tanmawwy has won 3 of its 9 races at that type of ground — a 33% win rate, which is remarkable. That is 1 in every 3 races on a good surface, compared to just 1 in 9 overall when you look at Class 2 races. Main has spoken about dropping the horse back to six furlongs after a run over seven furlongs didn't suit — a small tactical shift that clearly helped unlock the best of him.

The honest picture right now is that Tanmawwy has not won in its last six races, and the most recent victory was at Epsom Downs in August 2024, nearly two years ago. The recent form reads 4th, pulled up, 9th, 2nd, 5th, 10th — patchy, with one eyecatching second in there but nothing to suggest the wins are flowing freely. At Class 2 level, it has won just 1 from 9 races, which tells you how hard it is to win at that grade consistently. But this is a horse raced just one day ago, still active at eight, still competing at a high level, and with a clear affinity for certain tracks and conditions. When the stars align — Windsor, a good surface — Tanmawwy has shown it can beat the best around it.
