Tango Hotel broke through at Ffos Las in June with a debut victory, but the two-year-old has found it tough going since. In six races since that first win, the horse has finished in the top 3 just twice — a second place and another second — and hasn't won in four months. The record reads as 1 win and 3 top-3 finishes from 7 races overall, a win rate of roughly 1 in 7. George Scott's Newmarket yard sent out 52 winners this season, so Tango Hotel is very much one of the supporting cast rather than a flagbearer. Still, the horse has shown enough to earn another run, and at two years old there is time to figure out what works. How it performs over the coming weeks will tell us whether that early promise was the start of something or a false dawn.
