Sydney Dollars

Trained by Joseph G Murphy out of Fethard in County Tipperary, Sydney Dollars is part of a yard that has sent out 13 winners this season, which shows the operation clearly knows how to get horses winning. The fact that this particular horse hasn't found its way into the frame yet doesn't mean the ability isn't there — three-year-olds can take time to find their feet, and Murphy's record suggests he tends to get there with his horses eventually.

For now, Sydney Dollars is one to watch rather than follow with your wallet. The finishing positions haven't been catastrophic — seventh or eighth in a race isn't the same as trailing home last — but there's clearly work to do before this horse starts troubling the judge. Whether that improvement comes next time out or takes a little longer, Murphy's 13-winner season gives some reason for quiet optimism.
