The pattern in recent form — finishing 7th, 8th, 7th, 11th, 14th, and 7th in the last six races — suggests the horse is running consistently in the mid-field but struggling to get competitive. Trainer J. R. Jenkins, based at Royston in Hertfordshire, has managed six winners from the yard this season, so there is some form elsewhere in the stable, but Surprise Again has not been the source of any of those victories.
At four years old, with racing experience across seven attempts and nothing to show for it, this horse faces a real battle to turn things around. The racing game is unforgiving, and the clock ticks louder with each fruitless outing.
