Supido

That sole win came at Chester in May 2026, and it is worth dwelling on the venue. Chester is one of the quirkiest tracks in Britain — a tight, almost circular loop where position and timing matter enormously. Winning there requires a horse that can handle the bends and the bustle, and Supido delivered exactly that. It was also his first career win, which makes it all the more satisfying — when he finally clicked, he did it somewhere that tests horses properly.

His best performances come over seven furlongs to a mile, where he has won 1 from 6 races — roughly 1 in every 6 attempts at that trip. That is not an overwhelming record, but it tells you where his comfort zone is. Outside that range, he is less effective. His recent form reads 4-7-3-1-8-5 going back through his last six outings — that middle stretch, a win followed by a third and then fourth, suggests a horse capable of performing well when conditions suit, even if consistency is still a work in progress.

The challenge for Supido has been the level he is asked to compete at. Seven of his eleven races have come in Class 2 company — among the top races in Britain — and he has yet to win at that grade. That is a tough ask for a horse still finding his feet, and it is probably why his overall win rate sits at just 9%, or roughly 1 in every 11 races. He is not an easy horse to win with, but he is clearly capable when things fall right.

Ian Williams, who trains him from his yard in Portway, Worcestershire, has had a productive season with 96 winners sent out — a high-volume, well-organised operation that knows how to place a horse. Billy Loughnane has ridden Supido in six of his eleven races, winning once together, and their partnership will be worth following. Raced as recently as yesterday, Supido is clearly in an active campaign, and another outing at Chester over a mile would look like a logical next step.
