Summer Sandals

Summer Sandals stepped into a racetrack for the first time just over a day ago and finished 16th. At six years old, this is late for a first race—most horses run their debut much earlier in life. Trainer M Flannery, who works from an undisclosed yard, has sent out two winners already this season, so there is some form in the stable. What happens next for Summer Sandals will depend on how Flannery reads that opening run and whether there is enough promise to warrant another outing.
