Her first win also came at Newbury, back in June 2025, which hints that the track suits her well. Some horses take to certain venues like a duck to water, and Newbury may already be Sukanya's happy hunting ground.

Channon, who has sent out 46 winners from the West Ilsley yard this season alone, spoke about her with obvious enthusiasm back in April 2025. He described her as possessing real speed and genuine ability — notable praise from a trainer who clearly knows what a promising horse looks like. She's his first runner by the sire Havana Grey, a stallion known for producing quick, precocious types, and Channon suggested those early signs pointed toward something worth watching over the summer.

The one area where Sukanya hasn't yet delivered is at the very top level. She's run in three Class 1 races — the highest grade in British racing — and hasn't won any of them. That's not unusual for a three-year-old still developing, but it does suggest there's a ceiling she hasn't yet broken through. Whether this week's Newbury win gives her the confidence and momentum to crack it remains to be seen.
