Suhub

The recent form tells an interesting story. In its last six races Suhub has finished tenth, eighth, second, twelfth, third, and second — so the form is patchy, but those two runner-up finishes suggest a horse that can compete when things go right. The twelfth-place effort and the tenth sit awkwardly alongside them, hinting at inconsistency that will frustrate the yard — or rather, will frustrate James Owen, who trains the horse from his yard in Newmarket. Owen is clearly having a productive season — 205 winners from a single campaign is a serious number, the kind of output that marks out one of the busier and more successful operations in British racing.

At Class 4, Suhub is competing at a solid middle tier of the sport — not the glamour races, but not the bottom rung either. Zero wins from five races at that level tells you the horse has found its ceiling there for now, though five places in ten races overall means it is not being outclassed every time out. It raced just one day ago, so it is very much an active participant, and presumably Owen still sees enough potential to keep it busy. Whether a first win is coming remains to be seen — but for a horse with a habit of finishing second and third, the pieces are at least occasionally in the right place.
