Streets Of Doyen

The recent form makes for equally sobering reading. The last six races have produced nothing in the way of a finish, with two sixth-place efforts the best of it. Regular partner Mr A Harvey has ridden the horse five times without a win between them, and when Streets Of Doyen has stepped up to take on some of the better races — Class 2, which means strong, competitive company — the record reads 0 wins from 4 attempts. The level may simply be a stretch too far.

There is a more positive backdrop, however. Trainer Martin Brassil, based in Co Kildare, has had a productive season with 13 winners from his yard, which suggests this is not a yard short of ability or ambition. Streets Of Doyen raced just yesterday, so the yard are clearly still finding races and keeping the horse active. At 12, simply getting a horse to the track in good enough shape to compete is no small thing, and that in itself says something about the care being taken. Whether another win is coming is hard to say — but the team have not given up looking.
