Stonecarthy

The recent run of form makes for difficult reading. A second place finish is the one bright spot across the last six races, but otherwise the results have been modest — including a sixth and a twelfth — and the winless streak stretches back further than any supporter would like. Racing just yesterday, Stonecarthy remains active and in training, so the search for that elusive breakthrough is very much ongoing.

Regular jockey Mr P J Cody has been in the saddle for six of those 13 races and is yet to get Stonecarthy into the winner's circle, though the partnership clearly keeps being tried, which suggests the yard — the trainer at least — still see something worth persevering with. Ian Patrick Donoghue's yard at Clonalvy in County Meath has been in decent form this season, sending out 26 winners, so the operation clearly knows how to get horses winning. Whether Stonecarthy can become one of them remains the question.
