Trained by Henry De Bromhead at Knockeen in Co Waterford, Stepdance is in one of the most active yards in Ireland right now — De Bromhead's team has sent out 107 winners this season alone, which is the kind of output that speaks to serious organisation and depth of quality. Overall, Stepdance has won 3 races and placed in 3 more from 20 starts, a win rate of 15%, or roughly 3 in every 20 races. That is a modest record on paper, but the Tramore numbers give it a very different shape. On normal ground — not too wet, not too dry — the picture improves further still: 2 wins from 7 races, meaning it scores nearly 1 time in every 3 attempts under those conditions.

The recent form tells a more complicated story. Going back through the last six races, the results read 1-5-5-8-9 before a blank, which means that sole win is surrounded by some fairly distant finishes.
