Stepdance

Henry de Bromhead's horse shows a clear preference for Tramore, winning two of its four races there. That's the kind of course specialisation that trainers love: a track where a horse seems to understand the layout and the challenges better than at most other venues. Stepdance last won at Tramore on 16 August 2025, though that victory is now fourteen months in the past. It has raced six times since without a win, picking up the occasional place but nothing more. The recent form tells the story — a seventh-place finish just one day ago followed by runs of 15th, 4th, 10th, and 9th. There are glimmers of promise — that fourth place shows it can still get into the frame — but the wins have dried up.

Ground conditions appear to matter. On normal going, Stepdance has won two of ten races, a 20% win rate that compares favourably to its overall record. The horse also seems to run best at distances between a mile and three furlongs and a mile and four furlongs, winning once from four attempts at that trip. Jack Kearney, its most regular rider, has not managed to get the horse into the winner's circle in six outings together, though that is a small sample. For Stepdance, the path back to winning form likely runs through Tramore on a day when the ground suits and the trip plays to its strengths.
