That single win came at Southwell on 25 August 2025, and it remains the highlight of his career so far. The problem is that was nine months ago, and in the six races since, he has not been able to repeat it — finishing fifth, sixth, third, fifth, then posting a no-show, before a third place in his most recent run just a day ago. That sequence tells the story of a horse who shows up, gets involved, but tends to find one or two rivals a bit too sharp when the pressure is on.
The level he competes at is worth noting. Most of Stenmark's races have come in Class 4 company — the middle tier of the racing ladder, where the competition is solid without being elite — and he has yet to win at that level in eight attempts. His one win came in a lower grade, which suggests he is still working out how to translate his ability into a result when the field gets a little tougher. For a four-year-old there is still time to figure that out, but he will need to find something extra to start troubling the judge more regularly.
