Station X

The key to Station X's success lies in ground conditions. On very wet and muddy ground, the horse becomes genuinely dangerous, winning two of its last three races in those conditions (a 67% win rate). Even on softer, wetter-than-normal ground, it has won twice from five races (40%). Give this horse slop underfoot and it thrives. It won most recently at Ayr this week on 19 September 2026, and before that claimed victory at Haydock on 18 October 2024 — its first career win came at that same track.

Station X typically races in Class 4 company, where it has managed just one win from nine races (11%), which tells you this is a horse performing better in less competitive races. That recent win at Ayr may well have come in easier company. Paul Mulrennan, who rides the horse regularly, has won once from five races together (20%), suggesting a reasonable partnership without anything spectacular. Bryan Smart's Sutton Bank yard has been firing this season with 18 winners, so Station X is part of a team clearly in good form. The immediate question is whether this recent purple patch holds up, or whether the horse slots back into its typical pattern of scattered wins. One thing is certain: if the ground turns soft or wet, Station X deserves serious consideration.
