Ffos Las is a tight, undulating track in South Wales that can catch horses and jockeys off guard — it rewards adaptability and a relaxed racing style. Winning there on debut, or close to it, is a decent early signal. The only slight question mark is a third-place finish in the other run, though finishing in the top three from two races is a perfectly respectable foundation for a young horse still learning the job.

The trainer behind Star Velocity is Ralph Beckett, operating out of Kimpton in Hampshire, and the yard is having a strong season — 107 winners already this term, which is the kind of output that tells you there is serious horsepower on the gallops and a team that knows how to place horses in races they can win. Beckett has a reputation for developing younger horses patiently and getting the best out of them over time, so a three-year-old in his care with two solid runs already banked is in good hands for whatever comes next.
