Star of The Desert

The recent run order tells the story of a horse gradually improving. After a seventh-place finish some weeks back, Star of The Desert has strung together a third, a fourth, and then last time out a second. That last-place finish was the closest call yet, and coming so recently suggests Ramsden is keeping the horse sharp with regular racing. The Newark yard, while modest in size, has sent out five winners this season, so there is competence behind the training. For a horse still learning the game at three years old with two placings already under its belt, a first win may not be far away—but it will have to come against the right set of circumstances and at the right moment.
