The partnership with jockey Adam Caffrey is the most interesting thread running through this career. In 21 races together they have won three times — a win rate of around 1 in 7, or 14%, which is noticeably better than Star Harbour's overall record. That gap matters. It suggests Caffrey understands how to get the best out of this horse in a way that not every jockey has managed, and Adrian McGuinness's yard in Lusk, Co Dublin — which has sent out 39 winners already this season — clearly knows what it is doing. A stable that active does not keep a horse in work without good reason.

The distance sweet spot is a middle-distance trip of around a mile and a furlong to a mile and two furlongs. At that range, Star Harbour has won 2 from 12 races — about 1 in 6 — which is the most productive part of the profile. That might not sound spectacular, but it means the yard have found where this horse operates best, and they are using it.

The challenge right now is that the last win came at Punchestown in September 2024, nearly 21 months ago, and the six most recent races have produced no win — a second, a fourth, and a fifth among them, but no trip to the top. The step up to Class 2, one of the top tiers of British racing, has so far produced nothing from four attempts, which tells you this horse is probably at its best a level below that company. Star Harbour raced just one day ago, so this is very much a horse still in the thick of it — active, competitive, and placing often enough to suggest another win is not out of the question.
