What we do know is the breeding. Srah is by Rajj and out of a mare by Karinga Bay, a combination that gives the pedigree team something to work with, even if the racecourse will now do the talking. The fact that Srah has reached six without racing is notable — most horses are on a track long before this age — but it tells us nothing about what to expect today, only that patience has been the approach so far.
The trainer is John Patrick Ryan, working out of Templemore in County Tipperary, and his yard has been in solid form this season with 21 winners already on the board. That is a genuinely productive season for a yard of this size, and it suggests Srah is coming into this in the care of a handler who knows how to get a horse ready to run. Whether Srah is ready to win first time out is another question entirely — but at least the preparation will have been thorough.
