The most recent form offers a faint glimmer. Going back through the last six races, the numbers read 6, 9, 12 before a step up to 12th, 9th, and 6th — so reading most recent first, there is at least some suggestion of movement in the right direction. Sixth place is not a result anyone celebrates, but it is better than trailing in twelfth, and the horse has raced as recently as yesterday, meaning it is clearly fit and active. Whether that upward drift in the finishing positions means anything real, or is simply the kind of noise that appears in any run of numbers if you look hard enough, is genuinely hard to say.
Jockey Phillip Enright has partnered Spread The Faith six times without a win between them, which makes them one of the more frustrated combinations in the yard. That said, trainer Oliver McKiernan, based in Rathcoole on the outskirts of Dublin, has sent out four winners this season, so the operation clearly knows how to get a horse to the front. Spread The Faith simply has not been one of them yet.
At ten races in and still searching, the honest truth is that this horse has given its followers very little to work with. Some horses take time to find their confidence, their right distance, or the right conditions — and occasionally one does eventually click into gear when everything aligns. For now, Spread The Faith remains a project very much in progress, and anyone following it is doing so on hope more than evidence.
