Splintered
Splintered is a two-year-old making his way into racing under the care of
Jonathan Portman at Upper Lambourn. The horse made his debut just a day ago and finished eighth, which is exactly where you'd expect an inexperienced horse to land on a first outing. There is nothing unusual about that — most young racehorses need time to understand what racing is actually about.

Our model's view, based on this horse's career and recent runs
Portman's yard has been in good form this season, with 46 winners to its name, so Splintered will be learning the ropes in a stable where plenty of horses are breaking through. The real test now is whether the horse improves on that debut run and starts to show the kind of ability that might catch attention further down the line. For now, Splintered is simply a newcomer finding his feet.
