Space Bear

The numbers tell a story of a horse who tries hard but hasn't yet pieced together consistency. His most recent six outings have been a mix of promise and frustration: a win last week, two second-place finishes, a third, and a couple of races where he has finished further back. These results suggest a horse still learning his trade, one who can beat his rivals on his day but hasn't yet figured out how to do it regularly. His first win came at Wolverhampton on 22 July 2025, and since then he has won twice more — the latest at Windsor proving he is moving in the right direction.

Space Bear seems to prefer a middle distance: he has won 1 of his 3 races between seven furlongs and a mile, a 33% win rate at that trip. When he races at Class 5 level, his preferred grade, he wins one in every five races. Luke Morris, his most regular partner, has ridden him five times and won once aboard him. The yard Appleby trains from has been in excellent form this season, sending out seventy-one winners already. Space Bear may not yet be a flashy prospect, but he is a horse with room to develop — and this week's success suggests he is finally catching up with his own potential.
