The trainer is Tim Easterby, whose operation at Great Habton in North Yorkshire is one of the busiest and most productive yards in the north of England. With 128 winners already sent out this season, Easterby clearly knows how to place a horse to its best advantage — and that experience in finding the right opportunity will be important if Sou'wester is going to turn those three fifth-place finishes into something more rewarding. There is plenty of ability in this yard, and a trainer who has already won over a hundred races in a single season tends to be patient rather than panicked when a young horse is still finding its feet.
