Sophia Royale

Trained by Alan McIntyre out of Clifden in Kilkenny, she races for a yard that has sent out three winners this season. McIntyre is not a household name, but three winners from a small operation is a respectable return, and Sophia Royale raced as recently as yesterday, so she is firmly in active campaign. Her last outing produced a seventh-place finish, which is modest, but at two years old there is still plenty of time for things to click — horses this age are often still learning their job.

With no wins from three races, the record is straightforward and honest. She has not broken through yet, but the placed finish tells you she has at least been in the mix at some point. Whether that translates into a first win in the coming weeks is the question McIntyre's team will be working to answer.
