Sonny Corleone

The last six outings tell a mixed story. Most recently, Sonny Corleone finished 12th, but before that came a pair of fourth-place finishes — the kind of near-misses that suggest the horse is competitive at its level. There have been some rougher days too, with finishes of 5th, 7th, and 9th in between. Nothing disastrous, but nothing successful either. At this stage, consistency matters more than polish, and Sonny Corleone is at least staying in contention rather than trailing home by double figures.

Elliott's yard is in fine fettle this season, having sent out 210 winners already, so there is clearly an eye for improvement and opportunity at Longwood. The question now is whether Sonny Corleone can convert those mid-field efforts into something better. At three years old, there is still time to develop. Many horses take a while to find their groove, and a run of decent finishes can sometimes precede a breakthrough. For now, it remains a patient wait — but patience is sometimes what young horses need.
