The horse runs best when given a longer distance. Over races between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, Solarize has won two of four — a 50 per cent win rate that is markedly better than its form in Class 5 races, where it has won just one from four. This suggests the horse may eventually find its true home at a slightly higher level or simply thrives when asked to settle into a rhythm over genuine ground. Trainer Charlie Johnston, based at Middleham Moor in North Yorkshire, has built a prolific operation that sent out 131 winners this season, and Solarize appears to be running at its best under his care right now. With a recent win, active racing schedule, and the form to suggest there is more to come, this horse is worth watching.
