The highlight so far is impossible to overlook. On 9 May 2025, Society Kiss won a Class 2 race at Ascot — one of the top races in Britain, run at one of the country's most famous and prestigious tracks. For a young horse to go to Ascot and win at that level is a serious statement. It is not a venue that flatters moderate performers, and Class 2 company is where good horses live. That was also the first career win for Society Kiss, which makes it all the more striking — this horse did not work its way up gradually through easier races before arriving at a big occasion. It went to Ascot and got the job done.
Trainer John Mackie operates out of Church Broughton in Derbyshire, and the yard has been in good form this season with 15 winners already on the board. Getting a horse to win at Ascot in that company is exactly the kind of result that puts a smaller yard on the map, and it speaks well of how Society Kiss has been prepared and placed.
With just three races to go on, there is still plenty we do not know about this horse. But the form reads 3-12-1 in reverse — meaning the Ascot win came most recently — and Society Kiss has also picked up two placed finishes alongside that victory. That is a consistent record. Raced just one day ago, this is a horse very much in the thick of its season right now, and the Ascot win will have done its reputation no harm at all heading into whatever comes next.
