So Grateful

The horse shows a clear preference for normal ground conditions, winning three of its last 19 races on that surface. It also performs reasonably well on fast, dry ground, with two wins from 13 attempts. Sprints over shorter distances suit it best; So Grateful has won one of its six shorter-distance races, suggesting it gets the job done when asked to quicken. Southwell is its course, where it has won three times from 12 visits — that kind of record shows the horse knows the track and the handlers know how to get the best from it there. Most of So Grateful's wins have come in lower-grade races, winning four of 28 times in that company.

The partnership with jockey Joanna Mason has yielded three wins from 17 rides together, a rate of roughly one win every five or six races, which is better than the horse's overall average.
