The recent form paints a picture of a horse that is trying hard without breaking through. In the last six runs, Snowballs has finished between fifth and eighteenth, with no sign of a breakthrough performance. A fifth-place finish five races ago remains the high point of recent weeks, and that distant outing now looks like a highlight rather than a sign of improvement to come. The horse is racing regularly — just one day ago — so the yard are clearly keen to keep it active and hunting for that elusive first win.
Trainer W McCreery's yard at Rathbride is having a solid season with 19 winners on the board, so Snowballs is part of an operation that knows how to get horses into the frame. That said, Snowballs' fourteen-race record without a win suggests the horse may have found its ceiling, or at least that the trainer is still searching for the right combination of conditions and competition to unlock a victory. For now, Snowballs remains a horse trying its very best but not quite finding the breakthrough.
