The recent form figures of 5-4-9-7-5-6 tell an interesting story, though. That fourth place is the closest Singarda has come to a placing, and the finishes are scattered enough to suggest the horse isn't finding one particular distance or track impossible — it's simply not quite getting there. The ninth-place finish stands out as a rough day at the office, but the overall picture is of a horse that competes without threatening the leaders.

Trained by Tony Coyle and Kaine Wood out of Norton in North Yorkshire, Singarda is part of a yard that has sent out 12 winners this season, so the team clearly knows how to get a horse to win. The question is whether they can find the right race or conditions to unlock something in Singarda. Having raced just one day ago, this is a horse very much in the thick of its season, and the team will still be looking for that first breakthrough.
