Silver State

The career trajectory is interesting. Silver State had its first win at Wolverhampton back in February 2026, then built steadily from there. The most recent victory came at Doncaster in late April — and looking at the last six runs in reverse order, you can see two blanks bookending two wins and two placed efforts. That is a horse in good form, not a horse fading. It raced just yesterday, which means it is being kept busy by trainer Jack Channon, who operates out of West Ilsley in Berkshire. Channon's yard has been in fine fettle this season, sending out 46 winners — that kind of output means horses in the stable are fit, well, and pointed at the right races.

One detail that stands out is the partnership with jockey Rose Dawes. In seven races together, Dawes has ridden Silver State to three wins — a win rate of 43%, or roughly 3 in every 7 rides. That is a genuinely strong ratio and suggests the two have found a real understanding. When Dawes is in the saddle, Silver State tends to go well.

The one puzzle in the profile is the Class 5 record: no wins from four attempts at that level. Class 5 sits towards the lower end of the racing ladder, so you might expect a horse of Silver State's ability to clean up there. That it hasn't is a curiosity worth watching — though it may simply be that the horse performs better when stepped up in grade and given a proper challenge. At three, with a busy season already under its belt and a trainer firing on all cylinders, Silver State looks like a horse still working out exactly where it belongs. The signs so far suggest the answer might be somewhere higher than people expect.
