Sidiriya

The horse is still actively racing, with its most recent outing just a day ago. In the last six runs, Sidiriya has shown some ability to get in the frame, with a second place and a third among a run of mid-field and lower finishes. It is a profile consistent with a horse that has some talent but rarely puts it all together — capable enough to pick up the occasional cheque, but struggling to find the consistency or the luck needed to win races at this stage of its career. Simon Torrens, who rides Sidiriya most often, has yet to steer it to victory after eight attempts together, which reflects the broader pattern of frustration.

Trainer P J Rothwell, based at Tinahely in County Wicklow, has saddled 35 winners this season and continues to race Sidiriya competitively. For a horse now in its senior years with just one win on its record, the fact that it is still being given opportunities speaks to the yard's faith that there may yet be another victory waiting somewhere. But with each race that passes without a triumph, the odds of recapturing that form from four years ago grow longer.
