Shing Shang Lily

Trained by Cian Collins at Navan, Shing Shang Lily is part of a yard that has enjoyed a productive season with 20 winners sent out so far. The most recent six races tell the story of a horse on the fringes: three fifth-place finishes, two seventh-place runs, and that one third. There is nothing dramatic here, no sign of serious injury or collapse. This is a horse that runs consistently but simply hasn't found a race it can win yet. At five years old, Shing Shang Lily is past the point where improvement comes easily, but Collins is clearly convinced there is more to come — otherwise the horse wouldn't still be racing week to week. Whether it finds that first win remains to be seen, but the active racing suggests the yard hasn't given up on it.
