Her recent form — the last six races reading 7-7-–-3-4-2 — does at least show some life towards the back end of that sequence. That second place is worth noting: getting beaten rather than getting lost in the pack is a meaningful distinction. The two seventh-place finishes at the start of the sequence are less encouraging, and the gap in the record (the dash) indicates a run where she either didn't finish or the result wasn't recorded in the usual way. She raced just one day ago, so she is as current as it gets right now.

She is trained by Paul W Flynn, based in Colehill, Co Longford, a yard that has sent out 22 winners this season — which is a solid, productive operation by any measure. Flynn clearly knows how to get horses fit and ready to run competitively, so the question for She's Ideal is less about preparation and more about whether the right race exists to unlock that elusive first victory. For a horse who has placed but never won across 13 attempts, finding the right spot matters enormously. When it eventually comes — if it comes — it will have been a long time coming.
