At four years old, she is still relatively young and has time on her side, but the pattern so far is hard to ignore. She has raced eight times at Class 6, the entry-level tier of British racing, and has yet to win any of them. That is the level where horses who struggle to win elsewhere come to find easier opportunities, so not winning there is a genuine concern. The fourth place in her last six runs is the closest she has come to making a real dent, and even that was not a victory.

She is trained by Mark Walford at Sheriff Hutton in North Yorkshire, and it would be wrong to suggest the yard has given up on her. Walford has sent out 35 winners this season, which shows the operation knows how to get horses to win races. The fact that this one hasn't yet is probably a question of finding exactly the right opportunity rather than a lack of effort or ability. She raced just yesterday, which says everything about how active she is — this is a horse being kept busy and kept looking for that breakthrough.

The honest assessment is that she is a horse in search of a result. She does not embarrass herself, she turns up, and she runs her race. But in a sport where the whole point is to win, a record of zero from fourteen is the kind of thing that keeps a trainer up at night, scanning the entries for a race where the stars might finally align.
