Rebecca Menzies's yard at Morden in Durham having already sent out 36 winners this season, there's clearly plenty of quality coming through the stable, and Sergeeva will be hoping to join that list soon. Having raced just a day ago, the horse is being kept active, which is often a sign the team believes another opportunity to break through is close at hand. Early careers in racing are frequently about finding the right race at the right time, and for a young horse still establishing itself, a couple of seventh-place finishes are far from discouraging. The real test will be whether Sergeeva can take the next step and prove those near misses were stepping stones to better things.
