Her first win came at Chelmsford in January 2026, and Walker's honest assessment at the time said everything: he felt she had always looked better than that performance suggested, and watching her grind it out was genuinely stressful. That kind of trainer candour is rare, and it hints at a horse whose talent has been sitting just below the surface, waiting to come out properly. She followed that up with a win at Wetherby in late April, and her recent form reads 1-1-3-2-4 in reverse — meaning she has been competitive in virtually every race she has run.
Walker has been deliberately patient with her, taking his time rather than rushing her up the ranks. The plan is to send her down a route where the weights are adjusted to give different horses a fair chance, and he believes seven furlongs — just short of a mile — is her ideal distance. Most significantly, he has flagged her as a potential Sandringham filly. The Sandringham is a prestigious race for three-year-old fillies run at Royal Ascot, one of the most famous race meetings in the world. That is not a target you mention casually. It means Walker genuinely believes this horse can step up to one of the biggest stages in British racing.
With 80 winners already sent out this season, Walker's yard is in strong form — and Secret History, who raced just yesterday and remains active, looks like one of the more interesting horses in his string. The frustration of early promise unfulfilled appears to be giving way to something more exciting.
