That Welsh course, perched above the River Wye, is where Secret Handsheikh first won — back in August 2022 — and it's where the horse won again just three weeks ago, in June 2026. Two wins from just 6 races at the track is a 33% win rate, and in a sport where most horses win fewer than 1 in 10 of their races over a full career, that kind of record at one venue stands out. Some horses simply suit a track's shape and layout in ways that are hard to explain but impossible to argue with. Chepstow appears to be that place for this horse.

Ground conditions matter too. On normal ground — not too wet, not too dry — Secret Handsheikh has won 4 of 21 races, a win rate of roughly 1 in 5. That's nearly double the overall career average, and it suggests the horse performs at its best when conditions are straightforward. Factor in the Chepstow preference and you begin to understand what the team around this horse will be looking for when they plot out the season.

The regular partnership with jockey Darragh Keenan is another thread worth pulling. Two wins from 12 races together might not sound dramatic, but at a win rate of around 1 in 6, it outperforms the horse's career average by some distance. That's the kind of number that tells you a combination is clicking. John Gallagher's yard has sent out 8 winners already this season, and with Secret Handsheikh racing as recently as yesterday and showing a second-place finish in the last six outings, this horse is clearly still in form and still competing.

At Class 5 — the level where most of these races take place — the overall win rate of just 1 in 29 at that tier does underline the margins involved. But then again, this is a horse who last won three weeks ago and raced yesterday. Not done yet.
