Finding a track that suits you is one of racing's underrated advantages, and Scorsese has clearly found his. Sedgefield is a small, tight, undulating circuit in County Durham — the kind of place that rewards a horse who knows what it's doing rather than one with raw speed — and this horse seems to have worked it out. Winning there on Boxing Day, one of the busiest and most competitive days of the racing calendar, is worth noting.

His other obvious preference is soft, wet ground. On that surface he has won 2 from 5 — a 40% win rate, which is a genuinely remarkable number. Horses who thrive in the mud often struggle when conditions dry out, which may explain why his record across all surfaces looks more modest. When the rain comes and the ground gets heavy, Scorsese becomes a very different proposition.

His most recent form reads 3-1-2 across his last three completed races, which shows a horse running consistently well and picking up cheques regularly. His usual partner Richie McLernon has yet to find the winner's enclosure together across their 6 rides, but given the horse's current form, that may be a matter of time rather than chemistry.
