Saxon Lodge

Saxon Lodge is a two-year-old just starting out on the racecourse, having made a single appearance a day ago. The horse finished fifth in that debut race, which is a common enough result for a young runner finding its feet against established rivals. With James Horton's Newmarket yard having already sent out 20 winners this season, there is clearly a capable operation behind the horse, even if this particular runner has yet to break the ice. It is far too early to draw conclusions from one outing — most young horses improve significantly between their first and second race as they learn what racing is about.
