The recent form figures of 11-9-4-4 tell an interesting story, though. Those last two finishes — fourth on both occasions — suggest something is starting to click, even if a win remains elusive. Coming fourth is hardly cause for a party, but it is a long way from finishing eleventh, which is where this run of form began. Whether that improvement is sustainable is the real question, and with a race run just yesterday, the team clearly believe there is something worth persisting with.

Her trainer P A Fahy operates out of Leighlinbridge in Co Carlow and has sent out nine winners so far this season, which shows the yard is more than capable of getting horses to win races. The fact that Sarah's Express hasn't managed it yet is not for lack of a trainer who knows what he's doing. Sometimes horses take time to find their feet, and sometimes they never quite do — but the recent upturn in finishing positions at least suggests the former is still possible.
